Unisearch gas analysers

Specialists in manufacturing high performance, high specification gas analysers using cutting edge optical techniques for use on process plants

Typical applications for Unisearch analysers

LasIR

For measuring a single species of gas.

Gases absorb at certain, very specific frequencies in the IR spectrum, from about 2 to 5um. The radiation from an IR source is passed through the sample gas. The component of interest absorbs some of this radiation, the amount absorbed is a function of the concentration.

The Unisearch Associates' design uses a laser diode which is:
  • Wavelength specific to the gases to be measured - very low cross interference
  • Stable - reducing calibration and maintenance requirements
  • Requires no rotating filters - improves realiabilty
Features
  • Source/detector remotely mounted with the electronics unit located in protected environment
  • Source/detector unit connected to control unit by fibreoptic cable - separation up to several kilometers - no possibility of electrical interference
  • Multiple sensors connected to a single control unit - reduced cost
  • Options of boundary fence, ambient, cross-stack or extractive monitoring
  • Concentrations from ppb to % depending on path length and gas species
  • Option of ultra low concentrations of ppt
  • Species measured include HCl, HF, HCN, COCL2, CO, NH33 H2S, C2H2, CH4, C1 to C6, alcohols

LasIR

Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR)

For measuring multiple componets in a gas simultaneously.

The FTIR-Imx is scanning analyser with excellent speed of response capable of measuring up to 50 components in real time.

Proved on demanding process applications, such as incinerators and metal processing
Typical applications:
  • Industrial process control
  • Stack monitoring (CEMs)
  • Fence-line monitoring
  • Urban ambient air monitoring
  • Flare monitoring
Features
  • Concentrations from ppb to %, depending on gas and path length
  • Options of muliple path measuring cell (for extractive gas measurements) or open path for bounday fence monitoring
  • Multiple sensors can be connected to a single control unit - reduced costs
  • Stable - minimal calibration requirements

Unisearch Associates

Unisearch Assocates Inc., founded in 1980, is a world-leader in the use of Tunable Diode Laser Absorption Spectroscopy (TDLAS) for gas measurements; a position which it still enjoys today. In 1995 it acquired advanced FTIR technology. A number of systems have been developed and installed for fence-line monitoring, and for extractive CEM and process control.

Unisearch maintains a strong R and D focus to retain its leadership in existing products and to develop new product lines.

It is based in Ontario, Canada
