Coalescing filtration is achieved by forcing the gas stream through the filter element. The flow path shown reflects a coalescing application. Small aerosol particles are forced together as they pass through the fine inner layer of the filter element. The larger drops created in this process then begin to fall out of the gas stream due to their mass.

Eductors provide a non-mechanical means of pumping or mixing a sample stream. An eductor is a device in which the energy of one stream is used to pump another. The pumping gas,typically compressed air, it develops a vacuum at the suction port that causes the sample in the suction chamber to be entrained with the stream and be delivered through the exhaust port.

Filters for high particulate load applications. Used upstream of fine particulate filters, FB filters will greatly increase the life and performance of particulate and coalescing filters.

Applications for FB-Series bypass filter can be found in both CEMS and process monitoring applications. In addition to reducing high particulate loads, these filters can be installed to reduce the response time of analysers by forming a fast by-pass loop.

Ammonia scrubber

Ammonia scrubbers are designed to remove ammonia from a gas stream to protect gas analysers from clogging due to the formation of ammonium salts. Ammonia is sometimes added to stack gases to reduce the nitrogen oxides content of the gases by conversion of them to nitrogen and water DeNOx process). Typically, an excess of ammonia is added and will be present in the gas samples. This ammonia residue will readily react with other components such as sulphur dioxide in the sample to form ammonium salts. This salt is relatively low-boiling, so when the sample cools down it precipitates out as a solid, clogging sampling line, analysers and other processing equipment.

The scrubbing principal is based upon phosphoric acid. The scrubber requires occasional regeneration; the period depends on flow rate and ammonia concentration.

Heatless desiccant dryers

The Perma Pure heatless dryer produces dry air with a dew point to -50 degC. It is designed for use with Perma Pure's Nafion sample gas dryers and sample conditioning systems. The unit only requires electrical power and a supply of clean compressed air. Flow rates of up to 90 l/min are possible depending on model. Operation depends on two chambers filled with desiccant, one produces the dry air, whilst the other is being regenerated. Production of dry air is continuous and automatic.
